Tonality filter

DeepSpace Filter
Filter Name Tonality
Compatibility Adobe Photoshop 5.0 and later.
RGB Workspace This filter does not require a specific RGB working space and works correctly in gamma spaces also as long as the image is in the working RGB space (the embedded profile is the same as the working RGB space profile).
Description Provides the click on gray gray-balancing and setting the RGB composite blackpoint and whitepoint.
Installation Download and copy all files from the zip archive into the /photoshop/plug-ins directory.
Setup

Open a higher bit-depth image (or convert a 8-bit/channel image to the 15-bit mode, then enter to the filter dialog and press Alt+g to open the Define screen settings -dialog.

Enter the system gamma space that is the gamma value from the Adobe Gamma utility (or from other system calibration utility) not the gamma value from the RGB setup.

This one-time-only step is needed in order to have the image in the preview box to appear somewhat correctly (the preview-box when the image is in 16-bit/c mode is not color-managed due to the bug in Photoshop).

Sliders BP: Range of 0 to 1280 in Photoshop native 15-bit levels.
WP: Range of 1 to 32768 in Photoshop native 15-bit levels. (The slider dispay is from 0...32767 since the slider does not allow the value 32768.
Radius px: Radius of the gray sampler in pixels.
PW mode:

When the PW check is selected the PW mode shows the clipping of color channels as follows.

PW mode=0: The clippingat both the blackpoint and the whitepoint is superimposed over the image data as inverted channel values.

PW mode=1: The clipping at blackpoint only is shown on black background using inverted channel values.

PW mode=2: The clipping at whitepoint only is shown on white background using inverted channel values.

PW mode=3: The clipping at both the blackpoint and the whitepoint is shown on gray background using inverted channel values.

Gray Sampler Right click on the image area that was gray in the real-life. If the any of the color channels under the picker is clipped (either to white or to black) then the preview image turns to red as a warning, in this case just click on another location. To remove the picker ctrl-right-click on the picker.
